North Carolina Expired  license plate First in Freedom Series. This was the first license tag North Carolina used that included something other than the tag number and year of the tag. MRN 620 is New Old Stock from the 1975 issue. Had a 1977 sticker affixed to it but the vehicle was sold before the new plate was installed. First In Freedom denoted the 200th anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, (Charlotte) who first declared they would no longer recognize England as sovereign over the state of North Carolina.
